Media Advisory: Briefing on Groundwater
USGS will brief Congress, the media and the public on why groundwater is a critical resource for the Nation, and how USGS is working with partners to assess, monitor and quantify the availability and sustainability of the Nation’s groundwater resources.
Why: | Groundwater is the source of drinking water for nearly 50% of the U.S. population. Increased use of groundwater resources for domestic, agricultural, industrial, and environmental needs has led to uncertainty concerning the ability of systems to meet current and future demands. |
